🙏🏾How to spent time with God
"Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who mediates on his law day and night. The person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither- whenever they do prospers." - Psalm 1:1-3
There have been times throughout my life when I found it hard to open my bible or pray. I always felt distant from God, when all I ever wanted is to be closer to Him. I would always feel dryness in my soul, but I started to have a morning routine with Him to guide me and to make Him my priority and to be consistent. In my life, I would feel out of balance until I started to seek him and dedicate my time to Him. I know as a young adult it's difficult to pick up the Bible or pray when all we want to do is to waste time on the phone or social media. Spending time with God is something we can all agree with that is super important for spiritual life. Here are the ways we can start to spend more time with God.
- Distraction
First, we have to start by getting rid of distractions. Having your phone around can be a temptation when trying to spend quiet time with God. Always set aside your phone turn off the volume, turn on do not disturb, do what you have to do to help you stay focused when reading the Word of God. It might take a sacrifice by spending time with God but it’s worth it.
2. Find a Quiet Place
Finding a room that is quiet is super important when trying to read the Bible or pray. You don’t want to be in a place that is loud and easy to get distracted. Set yourself aside and fill your soul with His Word day by day.
3. Find Things in The Bible That Interest You
One thing that has helped me has been to study what interests me. For example, the book of Revelation has always interested me and I want to learn more about his second returning. I always journal so that I could understand his Word. You can also write something that you are thankful for or something that God is teaching you. Always ask Him to teach you something new every time you read the Bible.
4. Listen to Worship Music
One thing that has helped me when feeling down is listening to worship music. It helps me get into the mood. Worship music can help you stay connected with God by simply singing the lyrics.
5. Pray
Every morning when you wake up before you do anything else get on your knees and surrender. Pour out your heart to Him. Choose to trust in God’s will, whenever you feel stressed out tell him that you are available for whatever He has for you.
I encourage you to set aside each day to spend time with the Lord. He can definitely make a difference to our day!
